Texas A&M will be turning the clocks back when they take on Kentucky for the October 6th matchup. The Aggies will honor the 1998 team with special retro unis. “The new uniforms celebrate the 20th anniversary of an outstanding 11-3 season and the team’s double-OT victory over Kansas State in the Big 12 Championship game.” - adidas
The uniform blends a retro look with the newest technology from adidas. The Primeknit A1 football uniform will feature retro details like old-school A&M wordmarks, throwback SEC patch, and the faux-mesh numbers and letters found on the jersey, paying homage to vintage mesh jerseys worn in the 1990s.
“Inspired by the team’s story of perseverance, Texas A&M’s throwback uniform pays homage to the storied final games of the season. Going into the 1998 Big 12 Championship game, A&M was coming off a bitter loss to the Longhorns and the newly No. 10 ranked Aggies were set to face the No. 1, undefeated team in the country, Kansas State. Down 27-12 in the third quarter, A&M bounced back to secure two huge touchdowns in the fourth quarter, tying the game 27-27. After two consecutive overtimes, the underdog Aggies pulled ahead to secure a 36-33 win and a bid to the ’99 Sugar Bowl.” - adidas
