Steelers Color Rush Uniforms Are Back

When the Pittsburgh Steelers take on the New York Giants this Monday at Acrisure Stadium, they'll be suiting up in their fan-favorite Color Rush uniforms. It’s the first time they’ll wear the sleek look during the 2024 season, adding an extra layer of excitement to the Monday Night Football showdown.

The Steelers have a strong track record in their Color Rush attire, boasting a 7-3 record while donning the bold monochromatic ensemble. Defensive tackle Cameron Heyward, a vocal fan of the jerseys, said, “It’s a different jersey. I like to think we win more than we lose in them. It provides an intensity and a rush, no pun intended.”

Heyward also noted how the uniforms ignite the energy in the stadium: "It gets the fans going. When you see that black and gold, it's like a black hole. Everyone has their old-school jerseys, but it's nice to bring something new to the party.”

Originally introduced for Thursday Night Football, the Color Rush uniform has since evolved into a beloved part of Steelers' night games. The uniform consists of a black jersey with striking gold numbers and gold sleeve stripes, paired with all-black pants featuring a gold stripe. It's a look that players love, with safety Minkah Fitzpatrick saying, “I just like the all-black look. I think it looks sleek.”

The Steelers first debuted the Color Rush jerseys in a thrilling Christmas Day victory in 2016, defeating the Baltimore Ravens 31-27 to claim the AFC North title. Since then, the team has worn the jerseys for some of their most memorable wins, including a dominating 40-17 victory over the Tennessee Titans in 2017 and a 52-21 thrashing of the Carolina Panthers in 2018.

“It’s an awesome uniform,” said tight end Pat Freiermuth. “It brings the collective together. It’s something different, something to look forward to. Plus, all-black is just a sweet look.”

The Color Rush has become synonymous with Steelers’ prime-time success. Players like cornerback Joey Porter Jr. appreciate the look for its modern spin on the team's traditional block numbers. "I like how the yellow pops on the block numbers,” Porter said. “It always looks clean, and every time we play in them, I get excited."

As the Steelers prepare to face the Giants in what promises to be another thrilling Monday night clash, fans can expect an electrifying atmosphere both on and off the field. With their storied history of success in these jerseys, the Color Rush adds an extra element to the game, making it a can’t-miss event for the Steeler faithful.
