Nebraska has revealed their alternate ‘Memorial Tribute’ uniforms, which we will see on-field for the Cornhuskers’ game against Illinois on November 10. The alternate uniforms are named ‘Memorial Tribute’ to pay tribute to the 100th anniversary of the end of the WWI, as well as celebrating Memorial Stadium, which was originally named to honor the 700 Nebraskans who died in WWI and those who served in the Civil War, Spanish-American wars.
The design for the uniforms was inspired by the first team to play in Memorial Stadium and continues the school’s age-old tradition of honoring Nebraska’s veterans. The 2018 look is similar to the 1923 uniforms the Huskers wore with the throwback tonal, paneled font. The buff colored pants are designed to look like the first facade of Memorial Stadium. The font and numbers for this look were inspired by the original clock in Memorial Stadium. The final touch on the jersey comes on the back above the numbers each jersey will have the quote “Not the victory but the action; Not the goal but the game; In the deed the glory.”
To complete the head-to-toe look, the team will wear retro style 1923 helmet, complete with cream-white stitched strapping details.
