Nike Adapt BB Basketball Shoes

Nike is once again changing the game with the release of the the Nike Adapt BB Basketball Shoes. The self lacing shoes is designed with the athlete’s performance in mind. According to Nike a players foot can expand almost a half-size during the course of the basketball game.

“We picked basketball as the first sport for Nike Adapt intentionally because of the demands that athletes put on their shoes,” says Eric Avar, Nike VP Creative Director of Innovation. “During a normal basketball game the athlete’s foot changes and the ability to quickly change your fit by loosening your shoe to increase blood flow and then tighten again for performance is a key element that we believe will improve the athlete’s experience."

The technology used in the nike Adapt BB relies on a custom motor and gear train to sense the tension that is needed by the foot and allows it to be adjusted accordingly. The so called Brain of the shoe is the fitAdapt technology that allows players to use manual touch or the Nike Adapt app to input different fit settings for each moment of the game.

“For example, during a timeout, a player can loosen the shoe before tightening it up as they re-enter the game. In a forthcoming feature, they can even prescribe a different tightness setting for warm-ups. Plus, players can opt in to firmware updates for the FitAdapt technology as they become available, sharpening the precision of fit for players and providing new digital services over time.” -Nike

Paul George's PG 3 x NASA Shoes

Paul George has released his newest shoe the PG 3. To introduce the new shoe Nike collaborated with NASA to create the PG3 x NASA kicks. For the new silhouette George asked Nike Basketball Footwear Designer Tony Hardman to keep three things in mind when creating the new shoe; Shed What Is Unnecessary, Make Every Step Matter, and Remember Where You Came From. The PG3 is nearly an ounce lighter than the PG 2.5, and is a hybrid of the PG1 and PG2 that George played in this season. Hardman said they were able to reduce the shoe's weight by removing excess materials, utilizing a softer foam in the midsole and incorporating mesh on the shoe's upper.

Some details on the shoes include George’s hometown zip code, 93552, on the midsole. On the shoe's heel we see one of his favorite quotes, '“Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon.”

"I thought we killed it," George said. "These 3s are up there as one of my favorites. I don't think we went away from a basketball shoe too much, but I do think we highlighted a bunch of areas where you can say that's a sneaker and not a basketball shoe."

Donovan Mitchell The D.O.N. Issue #1 Signature Shoe

Donovan Mitchell has teamed up with adidas to release his first signature shoe, the D.O.N. Issue #1. The shoes name is inspired by Mitchell’s ‘Determination Over Negativity’ mindset, as well as pulling inspiration from a classic comic book that displays the issue numbers on the front cover as a nod to Donovan’s nickname, “Spida”.

Mitchell wants his signature shoe to be for people of all ages and at an affordable price point so it can be accessible to all.

“It’s only my second year in the NBA, to now have a shoe… I want to help inspire kids so they feel like they can do anything. You don’t have to be the number one recruit, you don’t even have to be a basketball player. I just want this to send a positive message to make kids feel inspired that they can be what they want to be.” - Donovan Mitchell

LeBron 15 "Air Zoom Generation"

LeBron has taken it back to 2003 for the first-ever release of the Air Zoom Generation, LeBron's first signature shoe. The Flyknit upper mimics that of the first Air Zoom Generations' white/black/red colorway, with other small details that act as a nod to The King's beginning with Nike.

LeBron 15 "Griffey"

The LeBron 15 "Griffey" iteration inspired by Ken Griffey Jr.’s signature shoes from the ’90s. The shoe is covered in the Seattle Mariners’s colorway of Fresh Water like on the OG Air Griffey Max 1, the sneaker is accented with large white Swooshes on the toe and heel. LeBron’s Dunkman and Griffey’s Swingman logo, a white midsole and black outsole completes the theme altogether.

LEBRON 15 "SOUTH BEACH"

The Miami-inspired teal, pink, and black colorway honors the city where his talents continued to shine. The LeBron 15 “South Beach” reverses time seven years, reimagining one of the most iconic colorways in the King’s signature line.

LEBRON 15 "AIR MAX 95"

Celebrate greatness on the eve of Air Max Day. Originally imagined by Sergio Lozano, the bold Air Max 95 reinvigorated the Air Max franchise for performance runners. Taking inspiration from the human anatomy, this unapologetic aesthetic expanded the running sneaker’s footprint far beyond its original intent. Now, the LeBron 15 “Air Max 95” arrives infused with the ethos of a ‘90s legend.

LEBRON 15 "ORANGE BOX"

Originally requested by Phil Knight in 1972, Nike’s signature orange box transformed into an icon that is continually reimagined today. Featuring a vibrant and unmistakable design, the LeBron 15 “Orange Box” pays homage to an unsung hero and the carrier of some of the most influential silhouettes in Nike’s storied history.

LEBRON 15 "MOWABB"

Introduced in 1991, the Air Mowabb was a cross-training hybrid designed by Tinker Hatfield. Inspired by the Huarache, this ACG silhouette possesses a limitless, pioneering attitude that disrupted boring routines and explored lesser seen paths. From the first time LeBron saw these on his uncle as a kid, the shoe's daring and expressive nature quickly became one of his childhood favorites. Now, this classic is reimagined on the LeBron 15 “Mowabb."

LEBRON 15 "DIAMOND TURF"

Playing two sports in the modern era of professional sports was unthinkable until the 1990s. In 1993, Nike crafted a shoe inspired by the athletes who believed that if you were good enough to play both, you should. With a three-tone colorway and iconic midfoot strap, the LeBron 15 “Diamond Turf” pays homage to the golden era of dual-sport legends that inspired LeBron growing up.

LEBRON 15 "WAFFLE"

LeBron's first pair of special LeBron Watch shoes are inspired by the Nike Waffle Trainer. This look is throwing back to one of the early Nike styles, the Waffle Trainer which was created by the legendary University of Oregon track coach and Nike co-founder Bill Bowerman. The shoe's innovative outsole put Nike on the map as a performance company.
