The New Jersey Devils are throwing it back with their new Heritage jerseys. For the first time in 26 seasons, we will see the Devils bringing back the original white, red and green home uniforms. These unis debuted during the Devils first season in 1982 and worn for ten years. We will see the Devil's rock the heritage jerseys a total of four times this season at Prudential Center.
In honor of the Winter Classic being played outside at Notre Dame Stadium both the Blackhawks and Bruins have added some Notre Dame Gold to their practice jerseys. The Blackhawks are embracing the spirit of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish with the jerseys, as they combine the black and white stripes from their Winter Classic gear with the distinctive gold look of the school’s football helmets. The Bruins will show off their classic B front and center in the same Notre Dame Gold.
Arizona State has introduced their new alternate jersey for the Desert Hockey Classic. The Sun Devils will be rocking a new blackout look featuring the new adizero black jersey. The jersey will have gold numbers and feature a thick maroon stripe around the bottom of the jersey. On the inside of the neckline we see ‘Forks Up’ spelled out. Dead center on the front of the jersey will be the Sun Devils pitchfork in maroon outlined in gold.
Winter Classic pucks to feature thermochromic coatings. The NHL has teamed up with PPG to create the official game puck for the 2019 NHL Winter Classic. The special coating will change from purple to clear when a puck's temperature is above freezing, providing a visual indication to officials that the puck should be replaced.
"Hockey pucks are made of vulcanized rubber and glide smoother and faster when frozen," said Dan Craig, NHL Vice President of Facilities Operations. "Freezing a puck eliminates bouncing, and game officials closely monitor the puck for temperature changes that affect performance while in play. A coating that changes color when the puck is above freezing will more accurately alert the officials that it is time for a replacement."
The LA Kings showed love to the Laker with their pregame jerseys. The Kings took the ice in purple and gold for their warmups. We see Kings across the chest in the Lakers word mark with the same drop shadow on the numbers. On each of the tops of the shoulders the team will feature the LA Kings logo. This is a great way to connect two sport organizations within the same city.
The Ducks have unveiled their 2018-19 Third Jersey for their 25th Anniversary season. The jersey features the original "Mighty Ducks" logo first seen in the 1993-94 season. To link the team's past and present, the jersey incorporates new and old with a touch of the Ducks current orange coloring represented in the crossed hockey sticks of the team's original mark. The interior of the collar denotes the franchise's 25th silver season.
Notre Dame Hockey introduced special uniforms for their 50th year. The special unis honor 50 years of Irish hockey with special patches on the shoulders and navy and vegas gold coloring in the stripes, lettering and numbers.
The Winnipeg Jets will wear their Heritage jerseys on Alumni Night this year. The Jets will induct Ab McDonald and Lars-Erik Sjoberg as the fifth and sixth members of the Winnipeg Jets Hall of Fame and in their honor will wear their special jerseys. We see the jerseys adopt the same look worn at the 2016 Tim Hortons NHL Heritage Classic.
The LA Kings have introduced their new Silver jerseys. The team drew the inspired from the Kings’ recent 50th Anniversary celebration, the new Silver jersey shows off silver accents and is highlighted with five black stripes that represent five decades of Kings hockey. At the bottom hem stripe replicates the Kings’ 1967-68 jersey, the first season in Kings history. Additional details include two embroidered gold crowns, along with two arm stripes, paying homage to the team’s two Stanley Cup Championships. We see on the neckline the original team’s gold and royal purple color scheme.
