The Houston Astros have received their 2019 American League Championship rings. The rings are 10-karat white gold with a pop of orange and blue on the front. The top of the ring features the Astros logo with the H made out of 11 diamonds, representing the 11 postseason games it took the Astros to win the AL pennant. One side of the ring features the player/coaches name and number, while the other will have 2019 and the number 107 which represent the Astros 107 regular season wins.
The Washington Nationals received their World Series Ring design. The rings are created with 14-karat white and yellow gold with a total of 170 diamonds. The top of the ring features the curly W logo created out of 30 rubies. On the left side of the ring we see the player’s name right above the DC skyline. The Roman numerals MMVI are etched beneath the Capitol dome, which represents when the Lerner family purchased the franchise in 2006.
On the right side of the ring is the saying “Fight Finished” and the Commissioner’s Trophy with 4 diamonds to represent the team’s four National League East titles and one ruby for the clubs first World Series Championship. On the bottom of the ring we see the saying “Go 1-0 every day.” etched in.
The finishing touches come on the inside of the ring where we see an image of a shark, in honor of Gerardo Parra’s walk-up song, “Baby Shark,” and a list of the teams the Nationals defeated en route to the title.
“The significance of having those iconic buildings and structures and monuments in that ring is volumes to me. We live in the most powerful city in the world, and we took this team from a fledgling franchise back in 2006 to the world championship in 2019. In a town that’s very difficult to galvanize, we really galvanized this fan base, this city, the DMV in general, and I couldn’t be prouder to wear this ring in honor of what has happened here in Washington, D.C., being a world championship-caliber city and bringing a 2019 world championship to the Nationals.” -Nationals General Manager Mike Rizzo
