New Uniforms for Northwestern Men's Basketball
Northwestern University's basketball program is set to hit the court with a fresh look for the upcoming season as the school announces subtle yet impactful modifications to its base jerseys. The changes, applied to both the men's program, showcase a meticulous attention to detail aimed at preserving the essence of the Northwestern brand.
One notable adjustment is the relocation of the Under Armour logo, which has shifted from its traditional spot on the left chest to a prominent position atop the jersey. This strategic move ensures that the brand affiliation remains unmistakable while offering a subtle twist to the visual identity.
In a move towards contemporary aesthetics, the iconic "Northwestern" script now boasts a slight arch, departing from its linear predecessor. This nuanced adjustment adds a touch of modernity while preserving the school's distinctive identity.
The modifications extend beyond the script and logo, with striping now seamlessly stretching from the base to the sleeves. To ensure a harmonious ensemble, the same style of piping that graces the jerseys now wraps around the shorts, creating a unified and polished appearance.
The men's team, known for its distinctive gray and gothic jerseys, will see minimal yet impactful changes. Distinguishing logos and unique piping adjustments will characterize the gray jerseys, while the gothic jerseys will feature additional striping for added flair. Northwestern fans can also anticipate the return of the popular all-white "Chicago's Own" jerseys, which made a splash last year and are set to make a return for select games in the upcoming season.
Assistant equipment manager Jeren McGhee expressed enthusiasm about the team's response to the updated jerseys, stating, "The guys love them. We always say, 'You look good, you play good.' The new jerseys that we have, we hope the guys can play well [in] and get us back to the NCAA Tournament."
